The Palmeira Practice is made up of experts in various areas of counselling and therapy. This provides us with a unique, solution-focused approach to counselling. We are able to pair every client with the ideal counsellor for the particular issues that you are dealing with.

We are home to some of Brighton’s best counsellors in the field of working through issues around sexuality and gender. Even in an accepting and progressive city like Brighton & Hove, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQ+) issues are very common due to a whole host of reasons. These can stem from family members and friends who aren’t accepting or begin bullying, prejudice in the workplace, issues around HIV, struggles with trans/transitioning issues, to personal confusion around your own sexuality or sexual identity and mental health difficulties, as well as many more potential experiences.

Unfortunately, these issues can then manifest into emotional distress, which can take the form of…

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • trauma

  • loneliness and isolation

  • damaged self-esteem

  • stress

  • panic attacks

  • self-harming behaviours

  • and many more
