About Clare Dawson
Clare trained at the University of Brighton and has a Post Graduate qualification in Psychodynamic counselling, which is a BACP accredited course. She also has an honours degree in Psychology.
Clare works within the psychodynamic framework, looking at both the conscious and unconscious mind to discover and uncover experiences that shape our relationships with a view that by becoming conscious of what we do, we then have the ability to think about what we would like to do differently.
Understanding the past
Clare pays particular attention to early life experiences and attachments to help her clients discover patterns and parallels in their present relationships, to help them gain understanding of what may drive them to repeat behaviours that may cause emotional upset and unsatisfactory relationships.
A safe environment for expression
Clare believes that therapy is only effective when it happens in a safe, non-judgmental environment, where her clients feel able to express any emotion that they feel. This enables you to separate the destructive from the constructive in order for you to move forward and gain an improved sense of self and well-being.
Clare’s background is in social work and teaching, she currently also works for a small, local charity helping vulnerable adults navigate the benefits system.
