Katherine is a UKCP registered integrative transpersonal psychotherapist, she is also a member of the BACP. She trained at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) in West London gaining a post graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy and a masters in child, adolescent and family therapy.
Katherine has extensive experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in a variety of settings including schools, colleges, charities and private practice.
As well as working at the Palmeira Practice Katherine has a private practice in London and works for Your Space Therapies Ltd.
Katherine aims to create a safe space where you feel able to express yourself and be heard, where you can work through whatever has brought you to consider therapy and feel empowered to make changes and reconnect to you.
She uses a variety of modalities tailored to each individual client and is particularly attuned to psychodynamic theories, unconscious forms of communication and working creatively with art, sand tray, visualisations, dreams, meditation, voice, breath, and body work.
It is often difficult to talk about the challenges you are going through, especially for children and young people. Katherine uses creative work to facilitate this challenge and open up a different perspective for expressing trauma and pain.
As a transpersonal integrative psychotherapist, Katherine believes the relationship between client and therapist is the foundation of the explorative journey. The transpersonal approach connects spirit, body, and mind. It looks not only at the pre-personal that affects your personal day-to-day existence, but also at the transpersonal and your connection with your soul.
Katherine has experience working with a variety of issues including chronic illness, disability, loss, relationship and psychosexual issues, anxiety and depression, abuse, sexual abuse, self-harm, eating disorders, aggression, and behavioural issues.
Katherine offers both long and short term services and your needs can be discussed at your initial appointment.
Katherine has a therapy dog Chloe, who is often in her sessions. Chloe is an 8-year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel rescue dog. She is an emotionally attuned, affectionate dog who will happily receive attention or quietly lay on the floor during session. For more information about having Chloe in sessions please contact the practice.
Prior to her psychotherapy training Katherine gained a BA (Hons) in Actor Musicianship and worked as a drama and music facilitator with autistic children.
