The Palmeira Practice is a counselling and psychotherapy group practice, run by therapists for therapists. We’re a professional group of counsellors and psychotherapists working in the Brighton & Hove area and online, owned and operated by Brighton Therapy Partnership Ltd. As a group practice we share resources and marketing and support one another, and we have an excellent reputation both for the therapy we provide and for supporting our members in their private practice.

After many years operating consulting rooms across Brighton and Hove, we now work as a referral hub for independent therapists, supporting members through marketing, a professional profile, and client referrals rather than room hire.

Associate members of the Palmeira Practice (PP) are independent practitioners in private practice with their own consulting room, a home online practice, or access to a rented therapy space, who want to register with us to receive client referrals, paid for via a referral fee.

The scheme is strictly limited in number and a waiting list will operate if it becomes full. We’re not interested in over subscribing the scheme to the point where it becomes difficult for therapists to get referrals from us.

Our Associate Scheme has REOPENED for new enquiries from counsellors and therapists in the Brighton and Hove area only. We have a current need for:

•      a female couples therapist working in-person,

•      a therapist able to work with couples or individuals on intimacy and sexual intimacy issues (in-person sessions),

•      a therapist able to offer EMDR in-person sessions,

•      an individual therapist who can work with a range of issues, for example recovery from narcissistic relationships and/or abuse, women’s health issues such as PMDD, neurodiversity, or a therapist with strong CBT skills.

All therapists will need good evening in-person availability (or weekends) at a consulting room in the Brighton & Hove area to meet client demand. You will need to have been qualified for a minimum of 2 years. We’re not accepting applications from therapists who are online-only or daytime-only, though hybrid working, including some online client work, is welcome. Our greatest need is for therapists with availability from 5pm onwards.

Criteria

Anyone wishing to be an associate member must:

(a) be a registered member of the BACP, NCPS or UKCP, or another established national accrediting membership body, and

(b) have at least two years post-qualification experience working with clients.

Conditions

•      The notice period is one month

•      You’re required to provide a photo of your consulting room for use on the PP website

•      Your practice must be based in Brighton and Hove when offering face-to-face work

•      You must have sufficient availability to take referrals from us. The scheme suits therapists with a full-time practice, or who are in practice at least 2 or 3 days a week, and offering 2 evenings per week (minimum 6 evening sessions per week).

Pricing

•      There’s a deposit of £75

•      There’s a one-off fee per referral you accept. The client referral fee is £100 per client, or £150 for a couples referral. The fee is charged once a client has attended one session after their initial appointment

What membership includes

•      Group marketing, SEO, social media and paid advertising on Google

•      A dedicated profile page on the PP website, plus a blogging platform to share your expertise with potential clients

•      A discount of 25% on Brighton Therapy Partnership workshops and seminars, and our ThEO on-demand CPD library

•      A dedicated Practice Manager and Referrals Coordinator, who manages client referrals and administration

•      An online referral system, so you can tell us what client spaces you have

•      The flexibility of hybrid working, including accepting online clients alongside your in-person practice

•      Client referrals through the Practice

Therapists who write for the Practice blog tend to attract more direct enquiries, and our profile pages consistently rank well for potential clients searching online. Any articles you write benefit from a light SEO edit and get shared with the right groups. Please note that blog posts you submit remain the intellectual property of the Practice and stay live on our website even if you later leave.

How referrals work

All PP client referrals come through the Practice Manager/Referrals Coordinator, so you’ll be expected to keep our vacancy platform up to date with your current availability. Referrals are chargeable once a client has attended one session after the initial appointment, and the same fee applies whether you charge full fee, reduced fee, or no fee for that first meeting.
