Approach

Frey offers a calm, grounded presence where you can speak freely and feel understood, even when things are hard to put into words. He listens with care and curiosity, actively exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences with you.

This process looks different for everyone. There’s no one-size-fits-all, and Frey will work with you to find a pace and focus that feels right for you.

You might feel pulled in different directions, part of you wanting change while another feels scared or unsure. Frey invites exploration of the whole of you so no feeling or need gets sidelined.

As you process your feelings and experiences, you can start responding differently to yourself and others. You can grow in self-compassion, build stronger relationships and feel more confident being yourself.

Depression and self-worth

When consumed by depression or low self-worth, it’s hard to imagine things can change. But with the right support, you don’t have to be held prisoner. It’s possible to find hope, reconnect to what’s important to you and start valuing yourself.

The way we see ourselves shapes how we move through the world. If you struggle with low self-worth, it’s like having chains tying you down, affecting your confidence, relationships and wellbeing.

Depression goes beyond this. It may feel as if life has been engulfed by a heavy fog which robs it of meaning. It can leave you feeling disconnected, numb and full of despair.

From his work within the NHS, Frey is experienced in helping people navigate through this and back to themselves. He can support you to make sense of what you’re feeling and develop new ways of relating to yourself. Through this, you can break free of the chains, grow your confidence and start focusing on living a life you find fulfilling.

For those who’ve experienced discrimination, these struggles can be further complicated. If this is relevant to you, Frey can support you in exploring its impact on your sense of self as part of the work.

People pleasing

What would it be like to say ‘no’ without feeling selfish? To stop feeling like you have to sacrifice yourself for others’ comfort? To trust you’ll be loved without hiding the real you? Counselling can help you untangle these patterns and find a more balanced way of being in relationship - with others, and with yourself.

It might feel like it’s just the way you are, but people pleasing is actually an adaptation. At some point, seeking approval, avoiding conflict, or putting others first may have kept you safe. But over time, such patterns can become exhausting, leading to resentment, relationship issues and burnout. The guilt that follows can pull you into inner battles. And buried beneath it all, the real you feels lost.

Noticing these struggles can be a powerful signal that it’s time to reconnect with your own needs and values. Frey has supported many people on this journey, helping them set boundaries with greater confidence, feel more at ease in relationships, and reclaim a deeper sense of self.

For some, these patterns are shaped by society’s biases around gender, sexuality and race. If you’ve changed yourself to feel more palatable, Frey welcomes you to explore this together too.

Burnout and Stress

Sometimes everything feels like too much, but you keep going anyway. You push through, hold things together and tell yourself it’ll ease up soon. But when you’re caught up in that momentum, burnout can creep in quietly. This can leave you feeling distant from yourself and unsure of how to find your way back. Therapy can help you make sense of it all, rebuild your energy and confidence, and feel more like yourself again.

Burnout isn’t just about work. You can experience it in many contexts, such as parenting, caregiving, studying, or activism. It’s often tied to the sense that ‘no matter how much I do, it’s not enough’. When exhaustion sets in, it may feel like you’re failing. You might feel frustrated or ashamed, wondering why you can’t just ‘cope’ like before.

Frey offers a space to explore what’s led you here and what’s been driving it. Together, you can begin to loosen the grip of non-stop demands and expectations. You can move towards a way of living that feels more balanced, fulfilling, and true to you.
