Training

Sam is a BACP accredited Humanistic Integrative Counsellor which means she draws from a variety of therapeutic approaches to tailor her work to your unique needs. She is trained in Person-Centred Counselling, Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis.

Sam is also a qualified somatic practitioner in Focalizing, an approach that incorporates body awareness to help process stress, trauma and emotional experiences.

Sam is qualified in somatic trauma resolution for the female nervous system.

As a qualified trauma therapist, Sam has extensive experience supporting people who have experienced trauma, including over four years of working with refugees.

Approach

Sam’s approach is collaborative and co-creative, working alongside you to support the changes you want to experience in yourself and your life.

She offers a person-centred way of working that respects your pace and meets you exactly where you are with no pressure to explore anything before you feel ready.

Sam believes the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work and aims to offer a warm, open and grounded space where you can feel safe enough to talk and be yourself.

Sam supports you to develop body awareness so you can fully experience your emotions and process stress and traumatic experiences. This includes paying attention to sensations in the body, which can help you understand yourself more fully and support a sense of healing and integration.

Couples

Relationships evolve over time, and sometimes life presents challenges that can feel overwhelming.

- You may be experiencing a loss of intimacy or connection.

- Perhaps communication has become difficult and both of you feel unheard or    misunderstood.

- You may have experienced a rupture, such as infidelity where trust has been shaken.

- Or you might be going through a major life transition- having a baby, moving house, changing jobs, or experiencing a loss which has impacted your relationship in ways that feel difficult to recover from.

Sam works with couples to get beneath the surface and underneath the harsh words, the withdrawal or arguments that seem to play on endless repeat.
She's interested in what might be driving the disconnection- the unmet needs, old patterns and the moments where partners stop being able to reach each other.

She offers a non-judgemental space where both partners can feel genuinely heard and true communication becomes possible again.

Women's health (PMDD + other hormone conditions)

Are you experiencing the physical and emotional impact of PMDD?

Or perhaps you are living with endometriosis or PCOS and finding it overwhelming to navigate daily life alongside these conditions.

These issues can have a profound impact on women- not only physically, but also emotionally and psychologically and can feel all-consuming.

Sam specialises in working with the unique ways women's nervous systems are affected by hormonal and life-stage changes, supporting women to navigate the impact of these challenges.

Her approach includes somatic work, bringing gentle awareness to the body, alongside menstrual cycle awareness to help foster a deeper connection with your body and cycle. This increased awareness can have a significant impact on how women experience their health conditions.

Sam also works with women through a range of life transitions including pregnancy, birth, perimenopause and menopause, supporting them to find a greater sense of ease within themselves.

Trauma including perinatal

Trauma impacts the mind, body and soul and can make your world feel much smaller than it did before.

You may have experienced an overwhelming event that was too much, too fast. Or perhaps you did not receive the support you needed when you needed it most or too little, for too long.

Trauma can have a profound impact on how you feel within yourself and how you experience the world around you.

You do not have to navigate this alone.

Sam specialises in working with trauma through an approach that integrates both mind and body. This work helps the nervous system recognise that the trauma is in the past, allowing the body to begin to feel safer, supported and able to move towards healing.

Sam has significant experience working with birth trauma and recovery.
