About Lorraine Green
Lorraine has a PgDip in counselling and psychotherapy and is a registered member of BACP. Lorraine trained as a integrative therapist at UEL, which means she draws on more than one theoretical approach, which include mindful CBT, psychodynamic, transactional analysis, and solution focused techniques. Lorraine works with individuals, couples and has completed further training in systemic family therapy, with CNWL NHS Foundation.
Lorraine has worked with Mind and various mental health charities which has given her experience of a broad range of client issues, which include the following . . .
- Relationships in crisis
- Childhood sexual abuse
- Work related issues/redundancy
- Low self esteem
- Domestic abuse
- Family issues
Lorraine has also worked with clients from a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Of Caribbean heritage, but born in Britain, she understands the cultural tensions which can sometimes manifest for people of dual or multiple ethnic or cultural heritage.
Lorraine draws heavily on psychodynamic theoretical models. This means she helps clients explore the underlying dynamics which may be perpetuating a problem. She helps clients identify psychological and behavioural patterns, which may be stifling change. Lorraine’s aim is to help clients get to a improved state of emotional well-being, so that they are in a better position to facilitate change in their lives, or better able to manage life issues such as anxiety, depression, stress or relationships in crisis.
Lorraine has a strong interest in neuroscience, understanding how the mind works and shapes us. She believes that connecting the mind to the body is highly beneficial; this basically means she helps clients become more attuned to where they hold stress and anxiety in the body, and more aware of how mental distress is physically manifesting in the body.
Couples and family therapy
Lorraine’s work with couples and families is solution orientated and designed to help them explore their relationships between each other and identify patterns of thinking and behaviours which are perpetuating problems.
